President Buhari to Sign the 2017 Budget in London? (Watch Video)

While speaking in a Channels Television programme "Politics Today" on Wednesday night, the Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on National Assembly matters, Ita Enang, revealed that the president who is far away in London for medical vacation, will be the one to sign the 2017 national budget.

Recall that while speaking on Wednesday when he was addressing State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, reportedly hinted that there is no decision yet on who will assent to the 2017 budget.

The outspoken minister who was responding to a question on whether the budget will be signed by Osinbajo or taken to President Muhammadu Buhari in London, said such a decision by the Federal Government would be taken when the document is transmitted to the Presidency.

Judging from the latest interview by Ita Enang, it seems that the ailing president who is in London, will be the one to assent to the 2017 budget as the lawmaker explained that the president will sign the budget and then transmit it to the acting president for other formalities to take place.

“The President will assent to the budget, the acting President is in office and when the budget is transmitted, it will go through the processes and all those other questions will answer itself.”
