Meizu’s Super mCharge can deliver up to 55 watts 

A Chinese technology company has designed a new battery which can charge to full in 20 minutes – beating current phones by a huge margin, Metro UK reports.

Meizu’s Super mCharge can deliver up to 55 watts – using ‘two groups of conversion circuits to directly output half of the voltage.’

To put the speed in context, rivals such as iPhone 7 and Samsung’s Galaxy S7 take between 90 minutes and two hours to charge.


The manufacturer of the product claims that the super-fast charging doesn’t damage batteries (usually the downside of fast charging technology).

What’s not clear is when this tech will show up in handsets on the shelves – but it’s been shown off in working form, so it is likely to appear in Android handsets before too long.
