At the launching of the exercise, Governor El-Rufai who presented the C-of -O of his land for recertification, says the policy will ensure that all land owners in Kaduna State receive a new Digital Certificate of Occupancy that will give their property absolute legitimacy.
According to the state governor, the new C-of-O is computerized and bears several security features including the photograph of the land owner, all of which ensures a secure, “bankable” land title document that will be readily accepted by any Financial Institution as security or collateral for bank facilities and other transactions.
In addition to modernizing and computerizing land administration in Kaduna State, Governor El-Rufai says the idea of establishing KAGIS is to create ‘bankable’ land title documents for urban and rural land in the state.
Furthermore, the KAGIS project will eliminate sharp practices and other fraudulent activities with respect to land administration and transactions in the state.
