Chelsea In Talks With Fiorentina To Sign Top Defender

Chelsea are in talks to seal the transfer of Fiorentina left-back Marcos Alonso, according to reports.

Antonio Conte has shifted focus towards signing Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina in a bid to solve his team’s defensive problems.


The Blues manager has been pursuing a central defender throughout the summer transfer window but has failed to land it's prime targets such as Kostas Manolas, Leonardo Bonucci and Kalidou Koulibaly.

There are reports that Conte may be looking to bring Marco Alonso to replace Cesar Azpilicueta who may be moved to the right full back position has the former Italian national team coach believes Ivanovic is better in central defence position.

Chelsea are reportedly negotiating a deal around an initial £17 million with eventual add-ons if the former Bolton and Sunderland defender makes the switch to the Stamford Bridge this summer.

Marco Alonso is a fan favorite at Fiorentina where he gave a good account of himself but he is open to a move to London under Antonio Conte,who prefers the Serie A defender with a premier league experience.
