Gambian President Announces Details of His Official Inauguration Ceremony as He Arrives Home (Photos)
Just after a week after taking the oath of office outside the country in
Dakar, Senegal during a whirlwind political crisis, Gambia's new
president, Adama Barrow, finally returned to his home country on
Thursday, amid wild celebration from his supporters as thousands of
people turned out to greet their new president at the airport in Banjul.
President Barrow’s return seems to mark a turning-point of sorts for the tiny African nation, as the focus turns to how he and the team he assembles, will govern.
Expectations are high, but as he confronts the challenges presented by more than two decades of authoritarian rule, Barrow remains optimistic.
He took to his Twitter page late on Thursday and announce details of his official inauguration as the whole country is set to see him kick-off his government in a flying start.
