President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, SAN to begin investigation of some top government officials accused of wrongdoing.

The official spokesman to the president, Malam Garba Shehu disclosed this in a statement stating that, "The attention of the Presidency has been drawn to a number of reports in the media, in which various accusations of corruption have been levelled against some top officials in the administration.

In that regard, President Buhari has instructed the Attorney General of the Federation to investigate the involvement of any top government officials accused of any wrong-doing. If any of them are liable they will not escape prosecution.”

From every indication, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Babachir Lawal and the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu may be investigated following indicting reports by the Nigerian Senate forwarded to President Buhari.

The Senate ad-hoc committee on mounting humanitarian crisis in the North-east chaired by Senator Shehu Sani (APC, Kaduna) had last week Wednesday indicted the SGF in the contract scandal at the PINE while a memo from the Department of State Services (DSS) last Friday revealed that Magu failed its integrity test.

In a memo signed by one Folashade Bello and addressed to the Clerk to the Senate, it stated that Magu would become a liability to the anti-corruption crusade of the present administration if confirmed.

The memo claims that Magu is currently living in a rented apartment of N40 million at N20 million per annum
